Dearest Kitten
I love you. It is painful for me to continue to write that simple sentence without being able to say it to you in person.
How happy we will both be when the day arrives when I will once more be allowed to take you in my arms. We will spend a few happy hours embraced in each other arms once more.
With each passing day, my impatience mounts. I can barely control my desire to see and be with you again. When that happy day arrives, my feelings will be very hard to control. Be careful, because I will be so hot that you might get burned if you are not careful.
How I miss seeing the babies and watching their funny antics. In our later years it will always be fun to look back and recall all the funny things that they did. Of course there will be a break that you will have to fill in for me.
What's this? Barby wearing pajamas already. Before we know it she will be wanting to get married.
It was too bad about Pauline's father. I was glad to hear that he is getting along O.K. though. There sure has been a lot of illnesses and deaths lately, it seems.
Talking about cold weather. It has not been too warm around here for the past few days. We have been wearing our field jackets & machinaws.
Bobbie's birthday party sounded like quite an affair. Let us hope that I will be there to celebrate his next.
I swear that I had nothing to do with Roger looking like me. By the way, talking about looks, I have a two day old mustache. Everyone in my section is growing one, so I had to also.
Do you think that you would like me with a mustache?
I remember Chamberlain. Give him my regards if you see him again.
Rita's letter came today also your letter of Monday.
Sweetheart, I have no doubts or fears in my mind where you are concerned. Let's forget it, huh?
Thank God that my day as C.Q. is over. Tomorrow we are having a day off.
The men like me but soon I will have to crack down on them. They are beginning to take advantage of my good nature. The only way to handle men in the Army is with an iron hand but to always be fair.
A good leader is one that the men fear but respect his ability. This is necessary because there will come a time when the leader will have to give an order that the men know will lead to possible death. If the leader is not feared, they will refuse to obey the order and then there will be a hell of a mess. It is necessary to do it on this side rather than waiting until we hit action.
I love you, Beautiful, but I must close.
Regards to all & kiss the babies for me.
Your Loving, Devoted, & Faithful Husband
Bob
