Dearest Kitten
I love you. How else can I explain the feeling in my heart that I have for you. It is my very life.
Of course I am the grandest husband in the world. How else could I have caught the best wife in the world unless I was the best husband in the world?
We have been working very hard lately and at night I stay in the barracks because I am too tired to dress in suntans to go to the P.X. or the show. Yea, a new wrinkle. We have to dress in suntans to go to the P.X. or show now.
We are building a firing range out of the wilderness down here. Beside being hard work it is hot and very dusty. It is so dusty that we look like negroes. Even after taking a bath I still feel dirty. The next time that I get home I will be only too happy to wash your back. Nothing would please me more than if I were able to wash your back every Saturday night.
My head may be bloody but it is unbowed. In other words my chin is and always will be held high. My morale gets low occasionally but never too bad. The main thing is that I miss looking forward to every other weekend at home. I have a furlough to look forward to instead, but it seems so far away.
I was happy to know that you received the new stroller. It is very handy for you when you take the babies out.
Have you received your check yet?
It may be a little late in getting to you this month due to our change of station and also to the fact that it is a different type of an allotment.
There is talk of a fifth brigade but it will be activated down here. I would be interested in going out on cadre for it if it was going to be activated in Devens or Edwards, but not down here. It would mean another promotion to tech sergeant, but if I had to take eight months of training down here, I am sure that I would go wacky as the birds.
While I am thinking about it, I had better warn you that starting next Monday we are going to be on the boats for two weeks and my letters will be none to regular. It will be due to being on the boats all the time and I will not have the opportunity to write as frequently. Do not be disappointed if I can not write at all, and please do not worry about it.
Latrineogram #97,964 has it that furloughs start after the two weeks of boat training. Just keep praying and it may come true.
Sweetheart, I love you. You are so much a part of me. Every day & night is so full of thoughts and dreams of you that I am amazed how I can work at all. It has got to the point that everything I do is automatic. In that way my mind is home with you although my body is way down here.
Give my regards to all and kiss the babies for me
I love you my Darling Wife.
Your Loving, Devoted, & Faithful Husband
Bob
